Who Needs Sleep? (Well You’re Never Gonna Get It)
Posted on November 8th, 2009 by Thomas Brock
AM and I live in a two room apartment (one bedroom, living room/kitchen/office area and a bathroom). It’s not glamorous, but we like our little place. Unfortunately, it provides Mini with one of the more awkward situations: Sleeping arrangements.
Generally, she sleeps in the bedroom and AM and I sleep on the floor in the living room. Mini used to require someone to lay with her in the bed to fall asleep. That often ended up with me falling asleep and AM sleeping on the floor.
We’ve tried sleeping on the couch (it’s a wooden-framed bench with cushions), but it’s too narrow to be very comfortable. We’ve tried an air-mattress, which was wonderful, but has developed a leak and becomes half-deflated in the middle of the night. Our current solution is setting up the couch cushions on the floor and sleeping atop them. It works, but it’s not the best night of sleep ever.
The awkwardness, and it may be all in my head, is that Mini may become uncomfortable with AM and I sleeping together. It’s not like we’d ever be caught in any sort of compromising position…It’s the idea that Mini would be bothered.
Unfortunately, until we move into a bigger house (we’re saving up to buy, hopefully within two years) and can give Mini her own room, it’s the only way we can have her over for weekends.
Do you have strange sleeping arrangements? Have you had similar concerns? Share you ideas, suggestions and ideas in the comments.
