And We March On…

Here is a picture of my husband that someone sent me! I couldn't be more excited that he's doing well!!
This has been a tough week for our family as far as deployment goes. It’s been one of the longer ones; time is dragging by! Unfortunately I can’t escape the news this week. Jon and his unit are assaulting Marjah. Every time I flip through the channels I hear something about it. He called very early in the week and we got to speak for a few minutes, which made us all feel better!
Concerned friends and family are also asking if I’ve heard from him. Not yet … but hopefully soon. No news is good news, so it is what it is. He was worried about getting me a Valentine’s Day present when he called but I told him, no worries on that. I took things into my own hands and did some retail stress therapy.
I love the new furniture!!
I’m really having to work like a dog to censor what the girls see on television. They of course know what the Marine uniform looks like, so when I’m flipping through channels I have to be very careful about what flashes onto the screen. I’m halfway tempted to use the parental blocking features and make certain channels inaccessible, as they’ve been asking questions that little girls their age are too young to ask. Questions that I don’t really want to answer, as we all know that nothing can be said with 100% certainty.
Other than that, things have been otherwise calm. No emergency room trips, no allergic reactions, norovirus, etc. I’m happy with that. I’m kind of basking in the fact that we’ve had a rather uneventful week. It was nice for a change. We’ll see what the next few days hold.

My husband is also in the “offensive”. I know its difficult. I have 4 children at home, and they are always wanting to know, “is daddy done killing the bad guys so he can come home”? I think it is crazy that they ask me that, I have NEVER said that to them, and they don’t watch the news. I am VERY careful with what I talk about infront or around them.
But your right, no news IS good news. On my bad days, I have to remind myself of that.
Good luck with this deployment! Every day down, is a day closer!!!!
You got that right. It’ll just be nice to have someone who can clean out the garage … lol. My kids have been saying some off the wall stuff as well; I suppose they’re likely hearing it at school because I’m like you in that I filter what comes into this house as far as the media goes!
Hang in there, I feel ya! They’ll be home before we know it; and we’ll be burning those putrid field cammies. He called soon after the post was published. He and all his guys are alright for the time being. That was a huge relief.
I’m glad that you got to hear from your hubby. I know comm has been down because of river city.
I’m thankful that we have the school year to get through the deployment…the weeks are chugging along.
I look forward to reading your future posts:)

I’m glad too!! Hopefully things will calm down over there and the calls will again begin flowing. I thought about homecoming earlier today … you know … it’s really not that long now, when you consider what’s already behind us. The weeks really are just flying by; guess I better get the garage cleaned out … lol.
