		<description>The only surprises I get from Mini&#039;s report cards are the not-really-that-surprising-surprises. I know she sometimes talks in class and her handwriting is bad. I can live with both, as she&#039;s almost always on the honor roll.

I don&#039;t think the report cards portray what a child knows or doesn&#039;t know...But I have issues with the way schools (NC and Onslow County in particular) do things. Teaching for an end-of-grade test really doesn&#039;t do much to prepare children for being adults or furthering their education. 

And I&#039;m really not a fan of changing math &quot;problems&quot; to math &quot;facts&quot; because Mini has enough trouble with problem solving in general. Taking away the skills to work through a math problem by replacing them with &quot;facts&quot; doesn&#039;t really help her much!</description>
